Billy Clap Lake

After running around like chickens with our heads cut off, we made it to the meeting spot where others were waiting. After arriving at the lake we packed up our gear and off we went. The lake is about three miles long and fairly wide, the landscape is filled with tall grass and basalt rock. At the begining the trail was pretty easy to navigate, but about 3/4 of a mile into the hike we found ourselves hunting for any sign of a trail. After some time and no succcess we decided to make our own trail to our was, so onward and upward. It was a good hike with the different kinds of vegitation, rock formations and evidence of local animals. At about the 2 mile mark we decided to turn back to one of the small beaches we passed to rest and have lunch (the dogs paws were tiered and so were mine). As we ate, the kids and dog played in the lake. We didn't make it to the end of the trail, but maybe next time.

Dusty Lake Hike

The most recent adventure we embarked on was a 1.5 mile hike to Dusty Lake. It's a rugged little hike, and I forgot how rugged it was because that's where we took our two new llamas to try them out. All in all it turned out very well considering the terrain and the inexperience of my family and the llamas. Thank the Lord for Joe and Pam (our friends who gave us the llamas). If they hadn't been there this would have been a very interesting trip. But I am hooked, can not wait till we get the animals out on the trail. So check out the pics and video links and enjoy.
